At PrivacyMatters2u, we believe education works best when people feel respected, not watched.

Many platforms rely on tracking, engagement scoring, and behavioral monitoring to decide how and when to communicate with users. We intentionally take a different approach.

What this means in practice

• We do not track whether you complete quests
• We do not score engagement or monitor participation
• We do not personalize messages based on your behavior
• We do not use silence or inactivity as a signal

Instead, we design our courses and quests as structured, self-paced programs. Encouragement emails and updates are sent as part of the curriculum — not in response to your individual activity.

How we communicate

Statement of Purpose 

The PrivacyMatters2u Initiative (the “Initiative”) is a for-profit membership program operated by SummerSnow Publications LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. 

Membership in the Initiative provides educational tools, privacy training resources, and access to multimedia Shield Up! privacy quests and related member benefits. 

Participation in the Initiative is governed by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). By enrolling as a member, you agree to be bound by these Terms. 

Relationship to SummerSnow Publications LLC 

The Initiative is a project of SummerSnow Publications LLC (“SummerSnow”). 

Members of the Initiative have no ownership interest or financial claim to any part of SummerSnow Publications LLC or its other business divisions. 

Membership Terms 

Membership fees: Members may enroll in the Initiative through either (a) a recurring monthly subscription at the rate posted on the membership page (non-refundable except as required by law), or (b) a recurring annual subscription paying for ten months and receiving two months free (for a total of twelve (12) months) when paid in full (non-refundable except as required by law). All rates are subject to change from time to time.

Membership term:

For monthly subscribers, membership is provided on a month-to-month basis beginning on the date of enrollment.

For annual subscribers, membership is provided for a twelve (12) month period beginning on the date of enrollment.

Renewal:

Monthly memberships renew automatically each month at the prevailing membership rate unless cancelled prior to the renewal date.

Annual memberships renew automatically each year at the prevailing annual rate unless cancelled prior to the renewal date.

Membership benefits: Members receive access to Shield Up! privacy quests, guided cohort opportunities, member-only updates, and other benefits described on the Initiative website as updated from time to time.

Payments and Platform 

The Initiative uses a third-party shopping platform and payment processor, Payhip with Stripe. You can find out more about Payhip at https://payhip.com/ and Stripe at https://stripe.com/. By accessing or purchasing Content from SummerSnow, you are agreeing to Payhip’s Terms of Use and Stripe’s Terms of Use.  

SummerSnow uses EmailOctopus for its email campaigns. You can find out more about EmailOctopus at its website, https://emailoctopus.com/. By signing up for the Initiative, you are agreeing to SummerSnow’s use of EmailOctopus and to EmailOctopus’s Terms of Use. For more information, please visit EmailOctopus’s website. 

Member Conduct 

Members agree to: 

Use resources for lawful personal use only; 

Treat other members respectfully in online and offline interactions; 

Communicate constructively and with kindness in Signal texting threads understanding that the groups are self-moderated and dependent on the self-regulation of the members 

Protect other members’ privacy and refrain from unauthorized data sharing; 

Comply with these Terms and all applicable laws; 

Respect the copyrighted material owned by SummerSnow and its licensors and provided to Members for personal use only. 

Violations may result in suspension or termination of membership. 

Privacy Quests and Certificates 

Members may complete as many Privacy Quests during their membership year as are listed on the Member site. 

Upon completion of each quest, members receive a certificate  acknowledging their participation. 

Quests are self-directed educational activities intended to raise awareness and promote better digital privacy practices. 

Privacy Pup’s Surprise Thank-You Gifts

From time to time, and at its sole discretion, SummerSnow may offer non-monetary appreciation gifts (“Surprise Gifts”) to members who complete a certain number of quests or engage meaningfully with the Initiative.

Surprise Gifts are optional, discretionary tokens of appreciation and are not guaranteed.

Surprise Gifts do not represent wages, compensation, dividends, financial interests, or any form of profit-sharing.

The number and type of Surprise Gifts, as well as any eligibility criteria, may change at any time without notice.

Receiving or not receiving a Surprise Gift has no impact on membership status, rights, or access to Initiative materials.

This program is intended solely as an optional expression of gratitude and recognition and shall not be construed as a financial incentive or contractual promise.

Independent Program 

The PrivacyMatters2u Initiative is not a cooperative, investment vehicle, or security offering. 

Taxes 

Members are responsible for reporting any gifts or other items received from SummerSnow as personal income where applicable under federal, state, or local law.

Affiliate Partnerships 

Affiliate partnerships (e.g., with Incogni, NordVPN, Proton) are for educational and funding purposes. 

The Initiative may receive commissions when members or the public purchase products or services through referral links. Affiliate relationships do not imply endorsement. SummerSnow is not responsible or liable for any interaction you may have with any affiliate or your relationship with any affiliate. By following a link from the Initiative website, you acknowledge and agree that you are leaving the Initiative website and are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the terms and conditions and privacy policy of any third party website, whether affiliate or non-affiliate. 

Intellectual Property 

All content, logos, training materials (including Shield Up), videos, graphics, and text associated with the Initiative are owned by SummerSnow. Members are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to view and use these materials for personal educational purposes only. 

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability 

Membership in the Initiative does not guarantee any specific outcome, financial return, or data-privacy result. Membership participation and quest completion are voluntary. 

SummerSnow and its affiliates are not responsible for any data loss, technical issues, or damages arising from privacy actions taken by members (e.g., account deletions, settings changes, or third-party software use or malfunction) arising from participation in the Initiative or use of its materials. 

Use of the Initiative-provided materials is at your own risk. 

Termination 

Membership may be cancelled by either party. If you cancel your membership at any time, it will terminate at the end of your then-current subscription month/year depending on subscription type. Customers can unsubscribe through their membership dashboard by seleting Settings and then choosing the Subscriptions tab. There, you will find a list of subscriptions you're currently enrolled in and the cancel button to stop any recurring payments. 

SummerSnow reserves the right to discontinue the Initiative or modify its structure at any time, with reasonable notice to members. 

Returns 

All purchases from this website are non-refundable. If you purchase an Initiative-branded item from the third-party website Printify, refunds are governed by Printify's policies. 

Governing Law 

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict of law principles. 

By joining the PrivacyMatters2u Initiative, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions. 

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY 

YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE CONTENT IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. ALL MATERIALS, INFORMATION, SERVICES AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITH NO WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES WHATSOEVER. AGREEMENT UPDATES 

SummerSnow reserves the right to make changes to this Agreement at any time SummerSnow will inform people of changes to the agreement by email 30 days in advance, and continuing to participate will constitute agreement to updated terms If any change to this Agreement is found invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that change is severable and does not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining changes and the remainder of this Agreement. Your continued use of and access to the Content, the Initiative, and the SummerSnow services after changes to this Agreement constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to any changes, you must stop accessing or using the Content and the Initiative. 

DISPUTES 

You agree that this Agreement and your purchase of Content from SummerSnow are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict of law principles. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts, tribunals, agencies and other dispute resolution organizations in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in all disputes arising out of, relating to, or concerning SummerSnow products and/or this Agreement. If any part of this Agreement is invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision and the remainder of the Agreement shall govern.

SummerSnow Content Agreement

OVERVIEW

Thank you for your interest in our Shield Up! Training series including Stop the Snoop, Inbox Island, Cloaked Coast, DeGoogle, METAmorphosis, and other PrivacyMatters2u titles published through SummerSnow!  

SummerSnow Publications LLC (“SummerSnow”) values its relationship with its customers, so this SummerSnow Content Agreement (“Agreement”) is provided to ensure clarity in the relationship and ease of making transactions. The following are terms of a legal agreement between you and SummerSnow. By using the SummerSnow services to access SummerSnow’s Shield Up! Quests and courses (the “Content”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including export and re-export control laws and regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use SummerSnow’s services or purchase access to the Content.

All transactions with SummerSnow will be governed under the general commercial laws of the State of Minnesota as supplemented or modified by this Agreement, without regard to conflict of law principles. SummerSnow will accept your order only if (1) you accept the terms of this Agreement, and (2) the Content you have selected is available. SummerSnow reserves the right to cancel your order in its sole discretion, for any reason.

Confirmation of receipt of your order does not constitute acceptance of your order; your order is accepted only when you receive confirmation that the order has been shipped or fulfilled. This Agreement is the complete agreement between you and SummerSnow regarding your purchase of access to the Content and replaces any prior oral or written communications between you and SummerSnow. Any additional or different terms in any order or written communications from you are void. If there is a commercial agreement in effect between you and SummerSnow, then the terms of the commercial agreement govern this transaction.

PERMITTED USE; RESTRICTIONS

Your purchase grants you a license to access the Content for your personal use only. You may not (i) transfer, copy or display Content, except for your personal use; (ii) sell, rent, lease, distribute, or broadcast any Content; (iii) remove any proprietary notices or labels on Content; (iv) attempt to disable, bypass, modify, defeat, or otherwise circumvent any digital rights management or other protection system applied to Content; or (v) use the Content for any commercial or illegal purpose. SummerSnow reserves the right to accept or refuse your purchase of access to the Content, or to restrict use of and access to the Content and the SummerSnow services in its discretion. You may not transfer or assign your access to the Content. SummerSnow may take actions that it deems reasonably necessary to prevent fraud and abuse, including placing restrictions on the amount of Content or other SummerSnow services that are accessible at any one time.

THE CONTENT

The Content is available to you in one of two ways: 1) as part of a membership, which includes access to courses that will assist you with completing the quests; or 2) as individual quests that nonmembers can purchase individually as e-books. Once you have purchased access to the Content, we encourage you to experience the Content promptly after purchase. We are not able to guarantee that the Content will be available indefinitely, and you will lose access to the courses if you allow your membership to lapse. SummerSnow will not be liable to you if the Content becomes unavailable for any reason or for any period of time, including but not limited to changes to or unavailability of the platform that SummerSnow uses to make the Content available to you (see Payments and Platform below).

The Content may be updated from time to time without notice to you, as determined by SummerSnow in its sole discretion. Typically, these changes will include refreshing links, correcting grammar, and similar minor changes.

PRICES AND RENEWAL

Except as otherwise indicated on the purchase page for the Content, pricing is for a one-year period of access to the Content starting the day you buy it; if you still want to access the Content after the access period, you have the option to renew the license at the current rate if that edition of the Content is still being sold. Should a new edition of the Content be released, you can purchase a subscription to the new edition at the rate shown on its purchase page. 

The prices displayed for the Content are quoted in U.S. dollars and are valid and effective only within the United States, and such prices do not include sales taxes, if applicable, which will be added to your total price. If you are located outside the United States, please be sure that you are aware of the price in your local currency, and that your credit card company may charge a currency conversion fee, for which SummerSnow is not responsible.

If Content is quoted at an incorrect price due to typographical error or error in pricing information: 1) SummerSnow has the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for the product quoted at the incorrect price, even if SummerSnow has confirmed the receipt of your order and charged your credit or debit card: and 2) if SummerSnow has charged your credit or debit card but subsequently canceled your order, SummerSnow will promptly issue a credit to your credit or debit card account for the amount charged. You are responsible for taxes, if any, for each product from the date SummerSnow ships it to you. No other discounts, quantity entitlements, or promotions apply unless expressly specified for this transaction.

This information will be used to process your order and payment, and for related purposes. When you purchase the Content, SummerSnow receives the following personally identifiable information: name, phone number, email, and address. A link to a third-party website does not mean that SummerSnow endorses the content or use of such website or its owner. In addition, SummerSnow is not a party to or responsible for any transactions you may enter into with third parties, even if you learn of such parties (or use a link to such parties) from the Content or otherwise access it through SummerSnow’s services. IN NO EVENT WILL SUMMERSNOW BE LIABLE TO ANY PARTY FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY TYPE WHATSOEVER RELATED TO OR ARISING FROM THE SERVICES OR THE CONTENT OR ANY USE OF THE SERVICES OR THE CONTENT, OR OF ANY SITE OR RESOURCE LINKED TO, REFERENCED, OR ACCESSED THROUGH THE SERVICES OR THE CONTENT, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, SQUARE, FLIPHTML5, AND SPONSORED LINKS, OR FOR THE USE OR DOWNLOADING OF, OR ACCESS TO, ANY MATERIALS, INFORMATION, PRODUCTS, OR SERVICES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOST SAVINGS OR LOSS OF PROGRAMS OR OTHER DATA, EVEN IF SUMMERSNOW IS EXPRESSLY ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THIS EXCLUSION AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY APPLIES TO ALL CAUSES OF ACTION, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORIES.

AGREEMENT UPDATES

SummerSnow reserves the right to make changes to this Agreement at any time with or without notice to you. If any change to this Agreement is found invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that change is severable and does not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining changes and the remainder of this Agreement. Your continued use of and access to the Content and the SummerSnow services after changes to this Agreement constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to any changes, you must stop accessing or using the Content and SummerSnow’s services.

DISPUTES

You agree that this Agreement and your purchase of Content from SummerSnow are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict of law principles. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts, tribunals, agencies and other dispute resolution organizations in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in all disputes arising out of, relating to, or concerning SummerSnow products and/or this Agreement. If any part of this Agreement is invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed superseded by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision and the remainder of the Agreement shall govern.

We do not share member information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics firms.

5. Data Retention

We retain member records only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose of membership and comply with legal or accounting obligations.

• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of their data
• Withdraw consent for communications

7. Relationship to SummerSnow Publications LLC

The PrivacyMatters2u Initiative operates as a program under SummerSnow Publications LLC.

All data collected through this program is used only for the Initiative’s activities and is not shared or combined with other SummerSnow operations, such as publishing, acting, or multimedia projects.

We use industry-standard encryption, password protection, and secure servers for all member information.

9. Updates
